Mt Sturgeon Historic Homestead Open Day

Bring the family along to the historic Mt Sturgeon Homestead, Cavendish Road Dunkeld, for a rare public open day on Saturday October 23, 2010 as part of Discover Dunkeld 2010.
Bring along a picnic and admire the stunning Grampians panorama from the sprawling manicured lawns and gardens of the Mt Sturgeon property. Step back in time as you tour the immaculately restored 1800's Mt Sturgeon Homestead, featuring a magnificent collection of colonial artwork and period furnishings. View the original bluestone shearers' quarters and the handcrafted sandstone and bluestone woolshed where a collection of historical photographs will be displayed.
At the Estate's native animal enclosures, meet some of the region's native animals including squirrel gliders, potoroos and the rare eastern quoll, once prolific in the Grampians National Park. Children will enjoy hearing their story from an experienced wildlife officer as well as meeting the working farm's other animals including sheep, horses and chickens.
Entry: $10 Adults. Children under 16 free.
Opening hours: 10am - 4pm. Last entry 3pm.
No food or beverages sold on site.
Parking is limited. A shuttle bus will run from the town centre's Markets in the Park to the Mt Sturgeon Estate all day.
